ASAI Complaints Bulletin 08/4
Adjudications of the independent Complaints Committee of the Advertising Standards Authority for Ireland, on complaints in respect of 35 advertisements, 29 of which attracted complaints from consumers, 4 complaints being of an intra-industry nature and 2 arising from the ASAI Monitoring Programme, are now detailed on the ASAI website, www.asai.ie.
At their meeting, the Complaints Committee found 27 of the advertisements complained of to be in breach of the ASAI Code on various grounds relating to truthfulness, principles, substantiation and prices. The advertisements complained of related to internet, radio, direct mail, sales promotions, television and press.
We would like to remind advertisers that in the case of upheld advertisements, they are required to confirm that their advertising will not reappear in that form. In addition, the ASAI Monitoring Service is monitoring compliance with the Complaints Committee’s adjudications.
Media members are reminded that advertisements found to be in breach of the Code can not be accepted for publication.
