11th May 2021

The Advertising Standards Authority for Ireland (ASAI), the independent self-regulatory body committed to promoting the highest standards of marketing communications in Ireland, has appointed Brian O’Gorman as the incoming Chairperson of its Complaints Committee.

The Complaints Committee is a completely independent arm of the ASAI and is responsible for considering and adjudicating on complaints submitted by the public, by an organisation, by a Government Department or any other person or body. The Committee is made up of a range of experts from the advertising, media, education, consumer and marketing sectors.

Brian is a Corporate Partner at Arthur Cox and a former Managing Partner of the firm, a position he held from 2011 to 2019 in what was a very successful period in the firm’s history. Prior to joining Arthur Cox, Brian spent a number of years in London and Hong Kong with leading law firm Slaughter and May and a leading international investment bank. He will replace the outgoing Chairperson, Professor Bairbre Redmond, who is stepping down in June after 17 years.

He is a member of the Advisory Council of the Board Diversity Initiative, a former Council Member of the Dublin Chamber of Commerce and a former director of Enactus Ireland, which aims to empower third level students to become the socially conscious leaders of tomorrow. Brian is a graduate of Trinity College Dublin.

Commenting on his new appointment, Brian O’Gorman said “I am delighted to have been appointed as the Chairperson of the ASAI’s Complaints Committee. The ASAI works with advertisers across all mediums in promoting the highest standards of marketing communications.   I am very much looking forward to working with the ASAI and to being a part of that process.”
